Ongoing Conservation Projects

The Greater Kansas City AAZK chapter participates in a variety of different conservation projects worldwide.


Bowling for Rhinos

Bowling for Rhinos is a fundraiser that supports the conservation of both black and white rhinos, as well as other species that share the rhinos' habitat.  The Greater KC AAZK chapter is the original creator of the Bowling for Rhinos event!  Visit our BFR page for more information.


The Feather Distribution Project

The Feather Distribution Project collects feathers from a variety of species at the Lakeside Nature Center.  The feathers are sent to specific organizations that either have the legal power to gift the feathers to Native American people for ceremonies and other important purposes, or have special permits allowing the organization to use feathers from protected bird species for educational purposes.

Annual Fundraising Conservation Support

Active GKC AAZK members vote yearly to select projects that their annual fundraising efforts will support.  Selected projects span a variety of causes and include efforts on both a local and worldwide basis.
